Dr. Philip Gachassin
Dr. Gachassin is passionate about caring for patients with obesity. Gachassin founded Acadiana Weight Loss Surgery in 2005, and has been performing weight loss surgery for nearly 20 years. He is Medical Director of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery for the Lafayette General Health System. Dr. Gachassin has served on both national and state committees for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is skilled in a wide variety of bariatric and complex laparoscopic surgical procedures. Dr. Gachassin holds an academic appointment from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery. He is also among an elite group of surgeons nationwide who have been trained in the ORBERA™ Intragastric Balloon procedure. Dr. Gachassin is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana where he currently resides with his wife, Jessica, and their three sons, Jacques, Turner and Benjamin.

Dr. Dennis Eschete
Dr. Dennis Eschete is a highly skilled fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon. Following his medical school and residency at LSU, he completed an advanced fellowship training program in New York with a very busy bariatric hospital. He is accomplished in advanced laparoscopic, general and bariatric surgery and has interest in primary and revisional surgery. A native of Houma, Louisiana, he has been in private practice in Lafayette since 2009 and currently resides here with his wife, Darah and their son, Gabriel.

Dr. Robert Autin
Dr. Robert Autin is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He joined our weight loss surgery program in 2015. Among the many procedures he is skilled at performing are gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, lap band removal and endoscopic revisions, which he mastered during an advanced fellowship training program in New York. Dr. Autin is a native of Louisiana and is proud to be back home serving residents across the region.
